Trip to Ice Rink Sendai & Nanakita Park

Yepp, this is the continuation of my journey in Sendai that I promised to write last week! This one focused on two of Yuzuru Hanyu related destinations in Sendai. If you haven’t read my last post and are interested in what to do generally or where to go in Sendai, you can check it here ! ≧ω≦

Basically, there are various Yuzu’s related destinations in Sendai such as Goshikinuma Lake, the Monument with Yuzu’s sign on it, Ice Rink Sendai, and Nanakita Park. You can get the pamphlet in the Tourist Information Center at Sendai Station. This time, I write my experience of going to Ice Rink Sendai and Nanakita Park 😀

It was a rainy day. After enjoying the view and nature of the beautiful Rinno-ji (pics of it on the previous post here), me and my friend took the train to Nanakita park. We got off at Yaotome Station (八乙女駅)–yes, it’s a bit long walk from there, but that’s what Mr. Google Maps suggested to us that time and I don’t think there’s either bus stop or stations around XD The location is near the Yurtec Stadium Sendai, and the entrance to the park is a bit tricky (or is it because it’s really a cold, foggy, and rainy day and our brain didn’t function well ahaha). I suggest you to ask someone/police near the area if you still didn’t find it. We nearly gave up when we finally spotted the cat with the bench!

After that, while shivering with cold and wet by the rain, we walked around 20 minutes to the Ice Rink Sendai with the help of Mr. Google Maps *and the rain turned into some kind of storm ahahaha*. (Yes, you read it right. We STILL have the intention to play ice skating even though we’re nearly turned into ice already).

(The banner says there will be special photo gallery of Yuzu held here too! And also, congratulations for the gold medal ≧ω≦)

We bought the regular ticket ( ¥1200 for adults) and the rental shoes fee ( ¥500) on the vending machine. For other tickets and prices you can see it on their website here . For foreigner who are planning to visit this place, don’t worry because all the staffs are soo friendly, even the people who use the ice rink were nice–they help others and keep an eye to beginner skaters. We met an old man who is apparently a coach and he taught us how to properly tie our skating shoes. ありがとう!ヾ(^∇^)

The ice rink was filled with Yuzu’s related stuffs like standee, fan messages, and they have Yuzuru Hanyu & Shizuka Arakawa exhibition gallery which shows hand-signed T-shirts, photos, and other trophies. We can’t take photos on these area so… sorry no photos :”) There’s also Yuzu’s banner promoting his book Aoi Honno spotted on the rink!

(I haven’t asked permission to upload her face on the internet, so yeah.. this cat face will do 😛 )

After finished skating to our heart content, we go back to Sendai Station, and that’s the end of our weekend journey to Sendai. Ah, actually we passed by Goshikinuma lake (the day before) too! But I didn’t know it was it and just let it passed by without taking any photos LOL! I just know it the day after when checking its location (πーπ)

For another Yuzu’s related blog post, I posted my experience watching Yuzu’s Continues ~with wings~ day 2 here ! (´∀`)

Also, if you need more kawaii supplies to fill your days, let’s join my journey and seek kawaii things together all around the world!
